MMIMV Blog 11: Erotic Smut & Romantic Literature I read on my Kindle

Who wants to know? Well, you do, naturally!

I’ve got it all, from classic love stories to loveless titillating shorts solely meant to arouse (and amuse) me. As long as there is some form of erotic power exchange – emotional, sexual, intellectual, even unrequited - I’m into it. Or simply sexual  / sensual awakening and discovery.

Classics nurture a more sophisticated and refined appreciation for the written erotic word - be it about love or sex or both. Erotic short stories are like cotton candy, they melt in your mouth as if it was never there to begin with but you enjoy the brief few moments it’s on your tongue before it completely dissolves away into sweet bliss. Of course, ‘cotton candy’ erotica is completely frivolous but fun. But then again, what I just described sounds an awful lot like an orgasm, non? Hmmm…

I also like paranormal themes for both erotica and novels. I’m limiting this list to what I’ve read or grazed from ‘recently’ (at some point in the last three months). For fun, those in HOT PINK are writers I follow on Twitter. :)

Plus Size / BBW Heroines

Luckily, these days there is a lot more offerings when it comes to steamy shorts for / about BBW’s. These are definitely guilty pleasures where one can simply slip into an appreciation for raw interaction between characters who lust after each other, whatever the reason. Here are a few I’ve read recently, all from twitter connections who also happen to be self-published

Angel Cake – Adelaide Cooper { Kindle Page }

Daringly Decadent – Leigh Elwood { Kindle Page }

Curvosity – Christin Lovell { Kindle Page }

Homo-Erotic / Gay Male

This next cluster may surprise you. So allow me to provide an analogy. Got a cat? Got an aquarium or a goldfish bowl too? You know how you know the cat will never get to eat the fish? But that doesn’t stop the cat from sitting there every day, licking their chops and watching those little fishies now does it? That’s me and gay porn / erotica. It’s part of my erotic self-torture.  I love it. H-O-T.

These two are new, recent finds – so I’m happy to ‘pimp their asses out’! All things Evan & Adelaide. As in Evan J. Xavier & Adelaide Cooper, writers of homo-erotic smut. (You probably noticed that Adelaide wrote one of the BBW shorts listed above...)

My first taste of Evan's work was It's Gonna Hurt and try as I might, couldn't find the part that hurt. I read it twice just to be sure. ;-)

Adelaide needed a Beta reader last week and I arrived for the occasion (along with many others I'm sure). It was H-O-T. My panties were creamy wet in no time. She published it last week. I, for one, will be reading more from this series. Check it out: Fucking Red Riding Hood

Both Evan and Adelaide explore certain 'taboo' topics in their smut - my philosophy is to each their own, as long as everyone is consensual.

Paranormal

This series isn’t being marketed as erotica, but I will tell you why it is in my mind. This is one of the best paranormal series that includes interplay between an alpha female and an alpha male. Saucy, hilarious, touching, very entertaining & I pre-ordered the last three books of the series (there are five total) that is how hooked I was. Characters include werewolves, vampires, ghosts, etc. It's also steampunk fiction, a favorite of mine. The rest of it is delicious, all the supporting characters have their own naughty streaks with every type of sexual orientation well represented. Honestly, I found myself attracted to almost all of her well-written characters. So yeah, H-O-T.

The Parasol Protectorate Series – Gail Carringer { Gail Carriger Amazon Page }

Mainstream & Classics

Anais Nin – I own nearly all of her writing from journals to shorts. Kindle and Hardcover. { Anais Nin Amazon Page } As a person who journals, my appreciation for her devotion to the written word is only secondary to her devotion to sexual desire.To this day, I find the movie Henry & June as one of the sexiest, most erotic depictions of 1930's Paris, France yet done. And yes, I had read most of her journals before seeing the movie...

Story of O – Pauline Reage { Story of O Wiki Page } Certainly a submission story of extremes, but enthralling nonetheless.

The Sleeping Beauty Novels – A.N. Roquelaure (Anne Rice’s erotic pen name)  { Claiming Sleeping Beauty } I'm guilty of first reading these in High School during Algebra class of all things. Might explain why I had to repeat Algebra!

The Known Experiment – Mr. X { Mr. X Amazon Page } Mr. X has a fun website where members share and swap all sorts of illicit experiments / dares. The community is growing, check it out: http://www.thesexexperiment.com/

Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte { Kindle Page - Free at Amazon } I know exactly which pages of this time-proven classic are IMHO to be some of the most romantic words ever written. All hopeless of course...

And there you have it, a nice list of what has tickled my naughty, erotic, hopelessly romantic self over the last few months. So now, if you will please excuse me. Writing this blog has been an exercise in some self-restraint for the day. I have a vibe toy I need to play with...
